Studio Rental

First time studio renters of GlassRoots must complete and sign a registration form and receive written approval of the Studio Technician before being allowed to rent time in any of the specific shop areas.

Booking and Payment Procedure

• Booking of rental time for equipment or any area of the studio may be made over the telephone to the GlassRoots office at 973-353-9555 or via e.mail to info@glassroots.org.
• Studio time and other fees must be paid before commencing to work and payment should be made upon signing in. We accept cash, check, or credit card for payment. There is a $50.00 fee for returned checks. Upon a returned check, terms will be strictly cash or credit card only. Please keep your receipt as you may be asked to show proof of payment.
• Cancellations made between 3 days and 24 hours prior to booked time will be charged an administrative fee of $25.00. Any cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice of the rental time will be billed at full rental rate.
• A discount of 15% on glassblowing or kiln rental rates is available to all GlassRoots students while enrolled in a six week or longer class.

Glassblowing

  • Large 2 18” x 32” $44.00
• Glass is supplied up to 9lbs per glory hole per hour. Any glass usage above this allotment will incur a charge of $4.50 per pound.
• Bench tools, pipes and punties are provided for student practice time on payment of a refundable deposit of $15.00.
• Hand tools, pipes and punties are available to all other renters at the following rates:
  • Tools Rate per Session 2 pipes, 2 punties $10
  • Bench tools (basic set) $10
• The cycle for annealing blown work runs from 9am to 8am the following day when work will be removed from kilns and placed on the general shelves in the hot shop area.

• Half tank / 3 hour slot / approx.125 lbs $375.00
• Full tank / 6 hour slot / approx. 250 lbs $675.00
