GlassRoots has a long history of collaboration with other artistic and community partners dedicated to improving the quality of life in Newark. This has manifested itself in GlassRoots’ staff and students creating murals on local buildings, producing mosaic art friezes and benches in local public and charter schools, partnering with other nonprofit organizations to produce art exhibits and public art shows, as well as donating one-of-a-kind works of art to benefit auctions on behalf of other nonprofit organizations.
GlassRoots has been sought out by over 100 corporations and nonprofit organizations for production of unique commemorative plaques, cast-glass pieces, vases and other artistic awards for presentation to employees and community leaders in the greater Newark region.
In 2010 GlassRoots was commissioned by State of New Jersey to produce the official New Jersey State ornament for the White House Christmas Tree. In addition, staff member, Kate Dowd, was selected in 2010 by Governor Chris Christie’s wife, Mary Pat, as a New Jersey Hero in honor of her dedication to community art and education of New Jersey’s youth.
GlassRoots was also selected by the producers of “The Secret Millionaire” television show, to be featured in their premiere episode in 2012 as one of three organizations in Newark that are helping to improve the life of residents in the community. The episode featured GlassRoots’ teachers and students working alongside Secret Millionaire and artist Scott Jacobs and his daughter, Alexa, bringing national and international attention to the organization’s role in community development.
In 2015, GlassRoots was featured on the ABC Network show, "The Chew" and in 2016 on the NBC Show HouseSmarts.
