Keeping our staff and community safe is our highest priority!
GLASSROOTS staff and board has established a plan for the reopening of our studios and offices. GlassRoots reopening protocols were compiled from a number of sources by non-profit, philanthropic and faith leaders, and are driven by guidelines as directed by federal, state and Newark health departments. Reopening is a process and not an event. Our phased approach considers the health of our staff, volunteers, students and other constituents (donors, friends and allies) in all of our decision-making, especially as it relates to gatherings. We will practice the “we love our neighbors” mantra, assessing potential risk for the people we work with and serve in all decisions.
OUR PHASED-IN REOPENING PLAN CURRENT PHASE AS OF JUNE, 2021: Phase 5 Non-staff coming to the studio will be asked to wear a mask when checking-in, and when moving about the studio. Please read below for a full explanation of each phase of re-opening.
Below is our multi-phase plan for restoring our programs and services. The phases will be implemented with the health and safety of the public and staff as top priorities. Moving from one phase to the next is dependent on local and state assessment of risk.
PHASE 1 GlassRoots studios remain closed to the public. With few exceptions, staff members continue to work remotely and are preparing GlassRoots materials and spaces for reopening when deemed safe. The community can enjoy access to the GlassRoots’ programs on our website and social media channels.
PHASE 2 The GlassRoots studios remain closed to the public but staff will provide curbside pick-up of glass art kits and products during designated hours. Patrons and staff will be required to wear masks and follow all posted instructions. Entrance to studios and offices are by appointment only.
PHASE 3 Phase 3 is contingent upon infection risks declining. Physical distancing will still be mandatory. The GlassRoots studios will be open for a few hours each day. The number of people allowed in the building at one time will be regulated. While open, the staff will offer programs onsite requiring minimal interaction, and continue distance learning opportunities. Extended stays or gatherings will not be permitted. Masks, social distancing, and hyper attention to disinfecting spaces and tools will continue.
PHASE 4 Phase 4 is contingent upon the relaxation of physical distancing guidelines to allow for an increased but still limited number of people within the studio and classroom areas of the building. Additional GlassRoots services will be added and hours will be extended. The majority of GlassRoots services will be reintroduced. Classes, programs and onsite sales will remain limited.
PHASE 5 Full GlassRoots services will return to a “new normal” once distancing guidelines have been sufficiently relaxed or lifted, infection threat is considered low or non-existent, or a vaccine becomes available. GlassRoots studios and offices will resume pre-COVID hours of operation.
PHASE 6 Group gatherings of all ages for GlassRoots programs and meetings will be allowed in our offices and studios, provided the infection threat remains low or there is a vaccine.
