Our 2018-2020 Glassblowing Apprentice, Natasha Jawahir was born in New York, and raised in New Jersey. Natasha graduated from Kean University with a bachelor's in Art Education.
Natasha studied Art Education through an interesting program that takes a psychology-based approach that allows children to make use of their creative intelligence. It is focused deeply on children’s expression rather than on creating technical pieces of art (technical skill); not trying to convince children to become artists, but rather introducing them to their artistic intelligence.
"I consider myself an art educator and advocate. I teach in order to break the misconceptions of “good art” and the importance of art. I do not teach to create more artists; instead I strive to expand upon the spatial, creative, and artistic intelligences. I truly believe that these are life skills that help us survive in society and in life."
Natasha is currently working on a masters in Studio Art, and enjoys learning about all mediums. She works with paint, clay, photography, and "anything else I can get my hands on."
