Teaching Artist in Residency (TAR) Program & Youth Entrepreneurial Spirit (YES)
Deadline is June 30,2024 Start date Mid September 2024 GlassRoots is excited to announce that the Teaching Artist in Residency (TAR) program is now partnering with GlassRoots’ signature legacy program, Youth Entrepreneurial Spirit (YES). (Click here to learn more about YES.)
For more than 15 years, YES programs have been dedicated to nurturing and guiding the entrepreneurial spirit in High School aged Newark youth. Through teaching an in-depth, practical, hands-on course spanning the academic semester, participants conceptualize, execute, and learn the 21st-century skills necessary to maintain a creative business.
We have expanded YES by partnering with creative leaders to act as faculty for this program. The goal is to draw on the professional experience of working artists, designers, and fabricators to inspire youth to dream big, learn new creative skills, explore business models, prepare business plans, and execute marketing strategies.
GlassRoots is committed to placing special emphasis on social responsibility and community enrichment narratives while confronting the realities of entrepreneurship and business ownership in an urban center. Students come from various backgrounds and schools in the greater Newark area to begin their journey as an entrepreneur.
The Teaching Artist in Residency (TAR) program supports teaching artists to serve the greater community of Newark and the surrounding areas by passing on techniques of glass working coupled with contemporary professional practices.
