GLASSROOTS ON NJNTV News 03/22/2016
Lauren Wanko of NJN-TV visited GlassRoots' studios in March 2018. Here is her story: A Newark student gathers glass from a 2,000 dgree furnace while others melt glass rods over a flame. “Glass is fascinating. Fire, glass, it’s dangerous, and attractive to young people. Arts, in it of themselves, are transformational,” said Barbara Heisler, CEO of GlassRoots. "We use the glass arts to attract, engage and change young people’s lives. Fire and glass let us talk about science. They let us talk about math and also personal change,” GLASSROOTS ON HOUSESMARTS 7/23/2016NBC's HouseSmarts says, "A home is made of more than a roof, some wallboard and a coat of paint. A home is where we learn about life and who we are. We’ve found a place many call home in Newark, New Jersey that shapes raw materials into useful and beautiful household items. It’s also a place that shapes young hearts and minds into motivated, positive young people."

GLASSROOTS ON SECRET MILLIONAIRE
GlassRoots appeared in an episode of ABC-TV's Secret Millionaire. Secret Millionaire is a one-hour reality series that follows some of America’s most successful business people as they give up the comforts of home to reside in some of the country’s poorest and neediest neighborhoods. Residing in local housing and subsisting on welfare wages, these “secret millionaires” keep their true identities hidden while they search for people and organizations that are dedicated to making life better for those in need. In the season premiere, millionaire and world-renowned artist Scott Jacobs and his 18 year-old daughter, Alexa, leave behind their family and comfortable life to spend six days in Newark. The two attempt to survive on less than $75 during their week-long visit. While volunteering at GlassRoots and other worthy charitable organizations, they decide how much to gift to the community heroes they encounter.
