GlassRoots' Teacher Open House sessions are free networking and professional development events for educators at all levels, designed to provide a firsthand look at how our field trips, in-class residencies, and other education programs meet curriculum standards and can enhance your classroom connections. Offered several times per year, we offer educators the opportunity to learn, be inspired, relax, and engage with our studio staff to learn how glass art can be integrated into their curriculum.
At our Open House you will: -- TRY your hand at melting glass to create beads on a torch heated to 2000 degrees -- CONNECT your STEAM lessons to real-life experiences -- EARN 1.5 hours of professional development credit -- LEARN about the four key ways GlassRoots can serve your students and teachers:
via STEAM-based, hands-on Field Trips, including our unique Glass Volcano Experience, which uses molten glass to demonstrate the behavior and properties of volcanoes;
in-school Residencies, where teachers and students collaborate on large scale projects, that result in a permanent art installation at the school ;
Professional Development workshops, designed for art or science educators, which connect glass-art lessons to New Jersey State Learning Standards, at our studios or your school, and
by bringing dynamic, exciting demonstrations of glassblowing or flameworking to your students and school with our Hot Glass Road Show!
