GlassRoots is accepting applications for our 2019-20 Youth Entrepreneurial Spirit Program (YES!) for students grades 9 - 12. GlassRoots is a non-profit organization located in the downtown arts district of Newark, New Jersey, that provides artistic and life-skills training to Newark area youth, ages 10 to 18, by engaging them in the creation of glass art. Our YES! program, modeled after a nationally recognized curriculum, is an after-school, academic year-long course where we teach students the fundamentals of business creation and ownership through the beauty of glass-art making.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience with nonprofits, and a desire to work part-time (about 20 hours/ week), with anticipation that this position will grow to a full-time position within three years. The Development and Communications Director is responsible for managing our individual giving program, grants portfolio, and steering our overall message and communications efforts. We’re moving to a space over 4x bigger than our current space! As we head into this year of transition, we see this position as a critical part of communicating our vision, impact and excitement. We are at an important point of evolution for the organization with many opportunities ahead of us to engage new communities and expand our impact. ![]() Joining us as we begin our new program year; GlassRoots is happy to welcome as our Operations Manager Tarrin Morgan. Tarrin is a veteran Higher Education professional that brings 10+ years of communications, event planning, leadership development, mentoring, operations, and branding/marketing, and operations experience to GlassRoots. Outside of education, he has been doing videography for over 10 years where he has worked for New York Radio Station Hot 97, produced multiple promo videos for Morgan State University, and does a host of freelance work. Tarrin is taking the lead in managing our move from 10 Bleeker Street to the Newark Arts Common - a task which will draw on all of his previous experiences.
